3rd Baby Tooth is History!!!

Here is Jess tying a string around Joey's tooth that is just literally hanging there. Even though Joey has lost two other teeth he was hesitant about it coming out. As you watch the video, notice all the emotions he goes through in a few seconds...pain, shock, being unsure, happiness...so funny!

The deed is done! Good job Joey! ...and Dad.

The Tooth Fairy didn't disappoint. She left $1.50 in quarters and Joey felt like he hit the jackpot.

Kindergarden "Graduation"

Where does the time go? My little Joey is growing up so fast.
The school put on a graduation. Kind of silly, but very cute. They sang a few songs and we saw a slide show of pics throughout the year.

It is his 2nd season of soccer now and he seems to be getting the hang of it. He's not a super star goal scorrer, but he is very tough and never quits! It was a fun season...Go Joey!!!!

The Two-Wheelin Boy Goes Down...

Uh oh...He's fallen off the bike and gotten many scrapes and scratches. But this time it was a crash. Not sure how it happened (neither are the boys) but Matt and Joe had a head on collision. Joey was pushed off his bike into the street and got this great scrape. It looked worse before I cleaned it up because it was all black and bloody from the asphalt.
But of course you know he was back on that bike the next day! Such a tough guy!

A Two-Wheelin' Boy!

He did it, and he totally taught himself. I had tried a few months ago to help him, but he was NOT cool with the falling that comes along with learning to ride a bike. So I figured he wasn't ready yet. Well Matthew runs in the house, "Mommy, mommy, Joey is riding his bike with no help and with no training wheels!!!" Of course I rush out there and the pride on his face was so cute. Way to go buddy! So proud of you!

Joey's 6th Birthday Party

Happy Birthday Joey!

A warm (but a little windy) summer day. Great for some water sliding fun!!! Some friends of our let us borrow this great slide for his party and it was a HUGE hit!

He's very much into Legos right now. He got so many sets. (That means hours of keeping busy!)

He really wanted a Star Wars cake. I spent hours on this thing. (Hopefully you can tell that it's R2D2) It was well worth it though. Through it's progression Joe would come into the kitchen and get more and more excited with every section I got done. When I was done I got the all coveted, "You're the best mom EVER! Thank you!!!" With a big hug. I'd do it again too.

Where does the time go? The years fly by and I want to remember everything. Sadly, I don't. But Joey, you are the coolest kid. You're so smart and witty. Always finding new words to add to your vocabulary. ("Flabbergasted" will always be my favorite.) You find joy in a quiet moment to yourself, but this past year you've really found your "boyness". You get hurt a lot more than you used to, but I'm glad to see you being brave. We love you buddy! Hope you had a fun day!

Another One?

Almost a month after he lost his first tooth, there goes the second one!

Joey's little tooth window has just doubled in size. While I was brushing his teeth for school I realized that the tooth was barely hanging on. After much coercion, and a little bit of peer pressure (a couple of his friends were over) he agreed to just let me dry it off with a tissue, as I had done with the first one, and see if I could get a good grip on it. Well, the tooth was really ready because just as I grabbed it, it fell out in my hand! Joey gasped and quickly stuck his finger in his mouth to check if it was still there. Upon discovering his newly enlarged hole he asked for the tooth and ran off to show his friends Ian and Sawyer. Once everyone had handled the tooth and checked out his bloody mouth I stuck the tooth in a baggie and put it aside for the tooth fairy tonight.

He just looks so much older to me know that he has lost a couple teeth. Good job Joey!

Joey Looses His First Tooth! 1-5-09

Backtracking just a little...on January 5th Joey finally lost the tooth! It was hanging by a thread in his mouth for so long and he wouldn't let us touch it. He would cry and be very upset if we wanted to try to get it out. So in an effort not to traumatize him, we left it alone.

On this night he had agreed to let me get a piece of tissue and see if I could get a good grip on it. (Before this Jess was trying to use pliers. Joey did NOT like that.) So I realized that with a little tug I could get it. I didn't warn him and I just did a little pull. He gasps with bigger than usual eyes and grabs his mouth. I'm just sitting there with a smile holding his little tooth in my hand.

He was happy. We were happy. The Tooth Fairy didn't disappoint either. She paid out $2 and she left the tooth! I guess she knew I was hoping to put it in his scrapbook. So that's the story of how I pulled my first tooth! Thanks Joey!!!

"Cuddle Corner" Indeed

The name of Joey's blog has never been more appropriate. We named his blog the "Cuddle Corner" because Joe is the cuddliest kid you'll ever meet. He's always been that way. I was lucky enough to run for the camera fast enough to get this sweet moment.

These are our two new cats. The top one is Tori, and the tabby is Maya. They are great cats and fit right in to our family. They take a lot of abuse, but the never get mean or get overly afraid. Though sometimes I wish they would run away from Lily more!

This was right after Joey woke up. It was a chilly morning (in the 60's) and he was cold. So instead of getting a shirt on or a blanket, like I suggested, he grabbed both of the cats and snuggled up with them. In the pic underneath I love how he is playing with his hair too. He has done this since he was a tiny baby, but he used to play with my hair. I got tired of him pulling my hair and hurting me so I taught him to play with his own hair, and he's done it ever since.

Kindergarten, here I come!

Well, there he is. All handsome and big. This is the first day of kindergarten for Joey! A fun part of going to school is the new clothes and new shoes. So here are Joey's cool new kicks that he was VERY excited to wear!

He will be going to p.m. kindergarten from 12:15 - 3:00 at the same school as Matthew, Benjamin Franklin Charter School. (BFCS)

It is very cute to see him so excited, clutching to his stuff!

Finally there! In front of Miss Arnold's classroom! He was able to put his stuff down, so, let's go to recess!

Although he doesn't know how to swing by himself I am sure that peer pressure will help him to learn. He was proud of himself for just getting ON the swing by himself! Good job Joey!!!

The look on his face was so cute, yet sad. He was excited until it was time to line up. Then he looked very nervous. This is the face I got when I told him to smile! At this point, I want to go in there with him!

Once it was time to go in he marched right in without even looking over at me! That made me feel better about his confidence in himself...that he knew he could do it!

A lucky picture. I clicked this just as he saw me for the first time at the end of his day. (It's a little out of focus) His folder is over his head for shade. It was over 100 and humid! Too hot! But it didn't seem to put a damper on his first day of school.

So...no...I didn't cry. I expected to, but I think I was so focused on him and how he was going to do I didn't even think about me. After we got in the car to go home after school here's what he said, "I can't believe I had my first day of kindergarten!" Then I asked him what he learned and he said, "We did so much new stuff today, I can't remember it all!" So day 1 was a huge success!

Then came day 2. It started off great. I walked him to his classroom and he was happy. Later that day, around 2:15, I got a call from the school nurse that Joey has a fever and needs to be picked up. When I got there he was asleep on a little bed. So sad! He had a fever of 101.8 and a headache. His teacher said that he was shivering and complaining that he was cold. That was weird since it was over 100 degrees again. So I let him sleep until school let out, we got Mathew and went home. There he slept from 3:30 - 6:45 and I decided that he would need to stay home form school the next day.

So he gets sick half way through the 2nd day and misses the 3rd day! What a way to start school Joey! So now it is Friday and he is home. The fever is better and he is acting more lively. So we are hoping to see him off to school on Monday!!!

Joey's Last Year in Pre-School is Over!

Well, it is official, Joey is going into Kindergarden next year.
Here is an overview of the things that happened at his school.

Of course he didn't cut his hair at school, but I just had to include it in the year's overview. I wasn't exactly happy with him when I took this picture, but I am sure glad I did. This is one of my favorite pictures.

A nearby place called Schnepf Farms was our first field trip. Rides and shows were fun to go to.

This picture is for a contest that his class had. They were celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday and the teacher asked for crazy places to read a book. When she put this on the bulletin board the caption was "Would you, could you Joey on top of the fridge?!?" Very cute...he didn't win though. Some other kids dad works for the phone company or something and her picture was of her and her dad in one of those huge crane/lift things that take the guys to the top of the telephone poles. How do you beat that?

My precious boy at his pre-school "graduation". It was a fun time with a slide show, songs, joey had a speking part (it was only one sentence), and visiting while we ate refreshments.

Hey Joe!

Joey is 4 years old and he is our "little Einstein". Sometimes he's so smart it is scary. His newest accomplishment is that he has taught himself to read.

Joey is also a BIG cuddler. He is the one who will be perfectly content and completely happy sitting on your lap watching his favorite cartoon (which is called "Super Why"- on PBS).

Follow along as he will be turning 5 soon and you know what that means...KINDERGARTEN!!
